2017 Napa Valley
Stagecoach Vineyard
BEAKR WINERY
The Cabernet fruit was sourced from Stagecoach Vineyards located atop the eastern hills on the Prichard Hill side of the vineyard. Grapes were harvested on 10/7/17 at peak maturity (26.7 Brix) and destemmed and sorted at the Wine Foundry with an optical sorter to include only the best berries. The wine was aged in new and used French oak barrels for 22 months. The final blend consisted of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Merlot. Aromas of vanilla bean, blackberries and cocoa powder are matched with toffee, mocha and black cherries on the palate. The wine is full bodied with smooth tannins, a broad mouthfeel, with a balanced palate and a powerful finish. This wine is built for aging, but is approachable now. 2017 was another fantastic vintage for California. A warm spring resulted in an early harvest. Warm days and cool nights yielded near perfect growing conditions.
Cheers!
